Trumma

  • Hello, I work for the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, a museum in the United States. Over the last year, I have been researching a brass military side drum in our collection that has a provenance of being a Hessian drum captured during the American Revolution. I am trying to find any information on the drum since there is no identifying crest on the main body of the drum. Besides the provenance of our drum identifying it as German, it has "FREBERSCH" over "AUSEN" stamped on the tensioner, which, when put together, gives you a german town in the Waldeck region of Germany. My interest in drum AM.021786 from your collection comes from an online reference identifying drum AM.021786 as being manufactured in Germany during the 18th century. Could you provide me with any additional information your institution has on drum AM.021786? Also, if you could provide any additional information on drum AM.011037, it would be greatly appreciated.
